STOPPATO 1887

It is said that in 1887 the young boy Napoleone Stoppato, at the age of twenty, was able to build up a modern and innovative activity, changing three generation’s of a farming family’s ways following his recruitment by a local noble, the farm owner. Napoleone established himself in a very short time thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit and modernity. Very soon he was able to multiply the harvest and invest in new fields. About 120 years later, the Stoppato’s family (Vanni, neverending worked together with his wife Angela and their three sons) and has continued with his family to maintain the business with the same historical spirit. He is very passionate about his love for the land and its products in full respect of tradition, the use of advent-garde technology and continued attention to innovative farming.

Stoppato's family follows directly all of the production phases of rice and quinoa farming, from growing through to production. We pride ourselves on the knowledge that all of our production phases have a minimal impact to the environment. Our fields are leveled thanks to a satellite system and innovative ploughing techniques that allows us to speed up the water filling and emptying. In this way we are able to obtain a higher quality product. They harvest immediately and dry the unrifined rice: the husking is made later and in a slow and delicate way, with small quantities of rice at a time. The grain is separated from it’s husk (lolla in Italian) in a very gentle way, avoiding the removal of the external part of the grain, rich in proteins and important nutritional elements. We only select the highest quality rice grains; for every kg of harvested product, only the 45-50% is packed. This process is carried out within in a modified atmosphere in order to avoid the contact between the rice and oxygen, which consequently causes oxidation. They are proud to sign each and every pack, with their name.
